Open Mic at the Tiffin Girls' School

After collaboration with teachers, designing, printing and handing out posters, we were at last able to hold a successful Open Mic Event at our school. This event not only marked an opportunity for a showcase of incredible solo and group musical performances but also a demonstration of our school's incredible community spirit with the fantastic ending of a group karaoke of Nativity's 'She's The Brightest Star'.

Our primary reason for hosting this event was to earn money from tickets being sold at £1.00. However, our secondary focus was also pivotal. We wanted to encourage as many girls in our school to step out of their comfort zone and participate in the Open Mic Night, whilst simultaneously exposing them to the world of engineering through our constant advertisement in the weeks leading up to the event at our school. We went around and targeted form groups, especially in the younger years, to encourage involvement at an early age when many girls may be considering their career plans. The event ended up being very successful, with many tickets sold and undeniable engagement throughout our school.​
